The Most Promising Young Female Cricketer of the Year Award
2024 Winner Ryan MacDonald-Gay (Kent, Sunrisers)
The Winners are decided by The Cricket Society Executive Committee following a nomination received from the Director of Women’s Cricket at the ECB.
Ryana is a fast bowler who represents South East Stars, Oval Invincibles and England. She juggles cricket with studying for a degree in sports psychology at Loughborough University.
She represented England in the inaugural Under-19 Women’s World Cup, which took place in South Africa in January 2023. She served as the team’s vice-captain on their route to the final, which they sadly lost to India.
Ryana had a prolific 2024 season, finishing fourth on the list of wicket-takers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, with 21 wickets, including career-best figures of 5 for 31 against the Blaze. She also contributed important runs for Stars, scoring a maiden List A half-century against Western Storm.
In June, Ryana received her first call-up to the senior squad during their ODI series against New Zealand. She narrowly missed out on selection but went on to make her ODI and T20 international debuts against Ireland in September. We’re sure these are the first of many England appearances for her.
